NYC’s biggest Halloween party is going to the dogs

New York City’s four-legged residents could be in for a treat — or two or three — this fall.

From Oct. 4 to 27, animal-friendly site the Dodo is hosting Brooklyn’s Best Dog Day Ever: Halloween Edition, which will have daily parades and costume contests, a canine-size corn maze and a pooch-friendly “pumpkin patch” filled with ball pits and plush toys.

Pups and their people can also hop in a photo station where furry friends can “dress up” — whether they like it or not — as a hot dog, pumpkin, skeleton and more before getting photographed for a 180-degree animated GIF.

Or if your dog refuses to be wrestled into a costume, he or she could just visit a 1950s-style malt shop serving pet-friendly frozen treats (with ice cream for humans, of course).

Plus, several Instagram-famous canine “influencers” will be spirited in as special guests, including Walter GeoffreyIzzie the Frenchie, Keeping Finn, Glee the Golden Retriever and Charlie & Sawyer.

2018’s holiday happening was a one-day pop-up that brought in 1,400 pet owners and their dogs, organizers say, so they decided to create a month-long event to welcome even more Halloween-loving hounds looking for tricks or treats.

“We noticed more and more people want to celebrate Halloween with their dogs, and there weren’t many dog-first options in the New York area,” says YuJung Kim, president of the Dodo. “Why not create the perfect, spooky fall day for owners to bond with their pups?”

Don’t yet own a pup? Fear not! You’re welcome to take in the festivities, too — and while you’re there you can visit the “world’s happiest haunted house,” where adoptable dogs will be waiting to find their forever homes.

The holiday spook-tacular will be held at 25 Kent Ave. in Williamsburg; hours will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Party-goers can purchase timed tickets for two-hour visits, with prices ranging from $15 to $79, depending on the number of humans and pooches in your spooky squad.
