See it: Tornado lifts house off foundation in North Carolina

Shocking video footage taken during a tornado caused by Hurricane Dorian shows the twister lift a small house off of its foundation in North Carolina.

The tornado struck the beach town of Emerald Isle last Thursday as Hurricane Dorian made its way up the east coast of the United States.

As the funnel descended on the town, a camera that home-owner Jason Sawyer installed in his front door’s peep hole captured the dramatic scene.

Rain pours down and wind whips a tree in front of the home, the video shows.

The house is then lifted off the ground as the tornado passes over it, the clip shows.

Sawyer told local television station WRAL that he and his wife were not at home during the storm.

“Our home is destroyed,” Sawyer told the news station. “We weren’t sure what we were going to come back to, but we sure didn’t expect this.”
