Anderson Davis, 17-month-old shot by Seth Ator, home from hospital

The 17-month-old girl who was youngest person shot by Texas madman Seth Ator is safely home — with her mother tearfully thanking the “angels” who saved her.

Toddler Anderson Davis was next to her twin brother in car seats in the back of their family’s SUV for a grocery store run when a gunshot hit from behind during Ator’s rampage on Saturday.

“I knew we had been shot, but it never dawned on me that one of us would be hit,” her mother, Kelby Davis, told CBS 7.

“I actually just thought, ‘How can I cover both of these babies at one time?’

“Within seconds I looked at Anderson, and she was just covered in blood — so much blood, you couldn’t even see her face,” she told the station.

The “smiley and happy” youngster had been hit in the face and chest by shrapnel, her mom said.

As the mom screamed for help, off-duty paramedics raced to help.

“Angels are everywhere,” Davis said, with her husband, Garret Davis, saying the rescuers were “truly the calm in the midst of the storm.”

They helped get her airlifted to a Lubbock hospital for emergency treatment, with the youngster finally discharged Sunday.

“I’m grateful Anderson is here,” her mom said with tears in her eyes.

“I’m so thankful that we’re not one of those families that’s on the other side of this. And it makes you feel guilty almost.

“But that’s why I just have to remind myself that God does not cause tragedies like this, but God is going to walk with all of us.”

Davis also praised the support of her hometown, Odessa. “Bad things are going to happen no matter where you live,” she said.

“This is our home and this is where our support system is, and it’s made all the difference in this situation.”
