A Florida truck driver was busted by the FBI for threatening to shoot up a church in Memphis — telling a friend he wanted “to take his knife and slit the pastor’s throat,” according to court papers.
Thomas Matthew McVicker, 38, made “credible threats to conduct a mass shooting and suicide,” telling his friend the church “put spiritual snakes and spiders in my bed at night,” the St. Louis Post-Disptach reported Tuesday.
“I’ve only seen them a couple of times but they take form and I can feel them crawling on me and under me,” McVicker said, according to an affidavit filed Monday — four days before the trucker planned to be in Memphis to carry out the threatened attack.
The friend, identified only as an Alabama woman, ratted McVicker out to the FBI, with the feds then confirming that he had asked for time off on Thursday so he could spend time in Memphis.
His employer and the church he was targeting were not identified.
McVicker’s mother told the feds that her son owned an FN P90 handgun, was schizophrenic, and occasionally used cocaine or methamphetamine, the Post-Dispatch said.
McVicker’s friend told the feds he has been living in the cab of his truck.
