Tanner Roark’s Arby’s stop came with a trade deadline surprise

Who hasn’t gotten life-changing news in a fast-food parking lot?

On his way home to his offseason home in Atlanta, where the Reds play next, Tanner Roark was craving a classic beef and cheddar sandwich topped with some curly fries from the American fast food institution that does indeed have the meats, Arby’s, according to The Athletic. While in the parking lot, he got the news: he was traded all the way across the country to the Athletics.

On Tuesday, Roark lasted a season-low 3 1/3 innings in an 11-4 loss against the Pirates, not long before the Reds had acquired Trevor Bauer from the Indians for outfielder Yaisel Puig in a three-team swap. The Oakland-bound righty is 6-7 in 21 starts with a 4.24 ERA.

He clearly won’t be making his cross-country trek by car, meaning he’ll miss out on other potential life-changing drive-thru experiences. No word on how he feels about In-N-Out, though.
