Pro-Trump super PAC has already raised $17 million

A pro-Trump super PAC raised more than $17 million in the first six months of the year and has $21 million in cash on hand — money that can be used to fuel the president’s 2020 re-election effort, according to a report Wednesday.

American First Action and its affiliated nonprofit, America First Policies, together amassed $17.8 million, Axios reported.

The organization, run by former Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon, brought in 16,649 donations from 11,655 unique contributors, the report said.

It also has $40 million in outstanding donor pledges and has collected $3.75 million of those since the reporting period ended on June 30.

Among the largest contributors are McMahon, who’s married to the WWE’s Vince McMahon, at $1 million; California real estate developer Geoffrey Palmer at $2 million; Liz and Dick Uilhein, founders of the Uline shipping company, at $1 million; and Marlene Ricketts, who owns the Chicago Cubs with her husband, Joe Ricketts, at $500,000.

McMahon, in an interview last month with Politico, said the re-election campaign plans to target its resources to six states Trump won in 2016 — Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania — and which they see as crucial to the 2020 election.

The two Trump groups combined raised more money than Priorities USA Action, the Democratic super PAC that supported Hillary Clinton, during the same period in 2015.

Axios said the Clinton PAC raised $15.7 million and had $14.6 million in cash on hand during the first half of 2015.

Adjusted for inflation, that amounts to $16.8 million in 2019.
