Pete Alonso’s trade deadline spent pumping up Mets fans

Confused by the Mets’ trade deadline approach? Pete Alonso is here to pump you up.

The slugging first baseman tweeted out a message to Mets fans as the team tries to put together a wild-card push.

“Thank you guys so much for your unwavering support,” wrote Alonso, who has 34 home runs this season. “You guys have been unreal all year. We are in crunch time. We’ve played over 2 weeks more on the road than at home thus far. During the months of August and September, we’re going to have a ton more home games.

“The boys are hot and we’ve been working our a–es off. Hard work has been really paying off this second half. The rest of the season is going to be really fun, wild, and a memorable ride. Our goal is to make history. We strive every day to be great and nothing less.”

The Mets acquired Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman to help make a playoff run and decided to keep Noah Syndergaard, giving them a potent top three starters in a rotation that is led by Jacob deGrom.

Some have questioned whether the Mets had the right deadline strategy. But with the uncertainty nearly over, Alonso was ready for a morale boost.

The Mets are 11-5 since the All-Star break and play 33 of their final 56 games at Citi Field. They will look for their sixth straight win when they take on the White Sox Wednesday night.
