The teen who went missing while swimming off the Rockaways in Queens was found dead early Wednesday — hours after his friend was rescued, police said.
Cops first responded to a call about two distressed swimmers off the shoreline near Beach 61st Street and Boardwalk at around 8 p.m. Tuesday. They were able to quickly rescue a 14-year-old boy from the water — but his 18-year-old friend remained missing through the night.
Police ultimately found the older teen’s body in a nearby jetty around 3:35 a.m. His name was not immediately released.
The two teens were friends who lived in Brooklyn, cops said.
The 14-year-old remained at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in stable condition early Wednesday.
