“Hello, fellow youngsters!”
Seventy-six-year-old Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden joined the millennial-dominated social media app Snapchat Wednesday in an apparent bid to appeal to the youths.
The septuagenarian announced the move in a series of posts to the image-sharing platform ahead of the second round of Democratic presidential debates in Detroit.
“I’m on Snap,” one declares with a picture of a sunglasses-wearing Biden running, as saucy horn music blares in the background.
The account appears to be run by his adviser Symone Sanders and granddaughter Finn Biden, who appear in a majority of the accounts less than a dozen posts.
The elder Biden however, only appears in a few — though his Bitmoji, a cartoon avatar, is stamped on every post the flesh-and-blood Biden is missing from.
The former Veep is leading national polling among Democratic voters amid a crowded field of 20 candidates — but he’s third among potential Democratic voters 18-29, with just 12% , according to an Emerson Polling survey published Monday.
A full 90% of Snapchat users are ages 13-24, and 75% are under the age of 34, according to Internet stat-trackers Omnicore.
