Dodgers call up future ace ‘Gingergaard’

The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly called up their top pitching prospect on Wednesday, and he already has drawn comparisons to Noah Syndergaard.

Dustin May — nicknamed “Gingergaard” due to his flowing red hair and high-octane, Syndergaard-like repertoire — will make his major league debut Friday against the San Diego Padres.

The 21-year-old May, who was a third-round pick by the Dodgers in the 2016 draft, is 3-0 with a 2.30 ERA in five starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. The right-hander has 24 strikeouts and nine walks in 27⅓ innings.

Before the 6-foot-6 May was promoted to Oklahoma City in June, he was 3-5 with a 3.74 ERA in 15 starts with Double-A Tulsa. He had 86 strikeouts and 20 walks in 79⅓ innings with the Drillers.

As for the real Syndergaard — also 6-foot-6 — he celebrated the fact he wasn’t traded by the Mets by posting a classic movie clip from the “The Wolf of Wall Street” in which Leonardo DiCaprio maniacally chants, “I am not leaving.”
