Trump campaign to hold 2020 rally on day of Mueller testimony

President Trump’s campaign announced on Tuesday that he’ll be holding a campaign rally on the same day that former special counsel Robert Mueller testifies before two US House committees about his probe into Russian election meddling.

Trump’s “Keep America Great Rally” will be held in Greenville, NC, on July 17. Earlier that day, Mueller will testify in an open session before the House Judiciary and House Intelligence committees about his investigation, which found no collusion between Trump and the Russians but did not absolve Trump of trying to obstruct the subsequent investigation.

“Americans have demanded to hear directly from the Special Counsel so they can understand what he and his team examined, uncovered, and determined about Russia’s attack on our democracy,” Rep. Jerry Nadler, chairman of the Judiciary Committee wrote in a past statement.

At a May press conference, Mueller said he would stick to the findings of the report if asked to testify before Congress.

The president formally kicked off his campaign for a second term last month at a raucous rally in Orlando, Florida.
