A man in the midst of a “medical episode” collapsed and died after running from police early Tuesday in Hell’s Kitchen, cops and sources said.
The man had been getting up and lying down repeatedly at West 52nd Street and 11th Avenue around 3 a.m. Somebody who saw him called 911.
When police approached, he ran for about a block down 51st Street until he collapsed to the ground.
“We get there, he flips out … This guy just had a medical episode,” a police source said.
EMS took him to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where he was declared dead. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Police plan to review body camera footage from the officers who responded, the source said.
The man’s identity was withheld pending family notification.
