Brooklyn man charged with murder after fatal fight over shoes

A Brooklyn man who allegedly killed his stepmom when she tried to break up a fight between the 55-year-old and his father over shoes last week was charged with murder Tuesday, police and sources said.

Oscar Rodriguez Jr. is facing a charge of second-degree murder after he allegedly flew into a rage in the family’s Bushwick apartment last week when his father, Oscar Rodriguez, asked why he was outside without any footwear, sources said.

The irate man allegedly stabbed his father in the arms and chest sometime between late Friday and early Saturday and fatally plunged the blade into his stepmother, Maria Rodriguez, before running away, according to sources.

The elderly couple wasn’t found until Saturday night when their son-in-law, Artelio Reyes, 63, went to check on the two, sources said.

Unaware of Rodriguez Jr.’s alleged connection to the murder, cops separately him picked up wandering the neighborhood Saturday after residents called 911 about a violent, emotionally disturbed person on the street.

Rodriguez Jr. remains in the psych unit at Woodhull Hospital.

Sources told The Post on Sunday that the hospital wasn’t allowing investigators to speak with Rodriguez Jr. after cops made the connection.

A hospital spokesman responded that it takes its “responsibility to protect patient confidentiality very seriously and cannot release private, personal health information.”
