Murray Hill doctor pleads guilty in opioid scheme

A 72-year-old Manhattan doctor who treated HIV patients pleaded guilty to illegally peddling opioids and other drugs out of his Murray Hill office.

Disgraced Dr. Joseph Olivieri was busted in April 2018. He was one of the top 15 prescribers of opioids in New York state, authorities said.

The doctor conspired along with Matthew Brady, who pleaded guilty in a Staten Island courthouse earlier in April.

Brady, 34, sent Olivieri recruited “patients” to get prescriptions for highly addictive pills — oxycodone, oxymorphone and morphine sulfate — and then would resell the drugs.

The former doctor deposited more than $1 million in cash in various bank accounts from his drug deals.

Olivieri will be sentenced Aug. 5 and faces up to 20 years behind bars.
