Daniel Murphy barely avoids Rockies mascot catastrophe

Daniel Murphy may be a Mets killer, but he’s no match for mascots.

The Colorado Rockies infielder was nearly washed away Wednesday as three life-size dental hygiene figures were wrapping up a between-innings race on Coors Field.

The two brushed each other aside, avoiding the collision as Murphy’s glove went airborne.

Another trip to the injured list would have been devastating for the 34-year-old, who had only returned to the lineup after a finger avulsion kept him out of action since April 2.

Murphy went 1-for-4 with a run, strikeout and walk in the Rockies’ 9-5 win over the Washington Nationals.
