Two 14-year-old Florida girls face charges after authorities say detailed notes were uncovered describing their grisly plot to kill nine people.
Delaney M. Barnes and Solonge N. Green were arrested Wednesday after a teacher at Avon Park Middle School discovered the eight-page murder plot titled “Project 11/9,” The Ledger reported.
The teacher told authorities she noticed the girls acting “hysterical” as they searched for a folder. Solange was reportedly overheard saying she would “tell them it’s a prank” if anyone found the envelope.
When the teacher discovered the folder, she saw the contents mentioned guns and alerted school officials, according to The Ledger.
The envelope — which was marked “Private Info” and “Do not open” — named nine targets and contained notes with plans for obtaining guns, killing the victims and disposing of their bodies.
“The plans further speak about the transportation of the victims’ bodies to other locations and their disposal, specifically burning and burying their bodies,” the arrest report states. “The plans were written in great detail as to how they would lure the victims, kill the victims, and dispose of the victims’ bodies.”
In the notes, the girls also detailed what clothing they would wear, specifying “NO NAILS” and “NO Hair Showing from the moment we put on these clothes,” according to authorities.
The two girls, who were taken into juvenile custody, were charged with conspiring to commit homicide and commit kidnapping, news station WFTS reported.
“It doesn’t matter if they thought it was a joke,” Highlands County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Scott Dressel told WFTS. “It’s not a joke. There’s no joking about something like this. You don’t make a joke about killing people. It’s not a joke.”
School officials confirmed the students’ alleged plot in a Facebook post Thursday as an “effort to prevent any incorrect information from circulating.”
“At the end of the day on Wednesday, two Avon Park Middle School students were arrested after a teacher alerted law enforcement of a possible plan to harm others off campus,” the school board of Highlands County said.
“All families involved have been contacted. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time.”
