The Yankees’ starting lineup is startling

Yes, that’s Clint Frazier hitting cleanup. No, you did not happen upon the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre lineup.

The Yankees are seeking a third straight win over the Royals at the Stadium on Sunday with a 1-through-9 that is far more spring training split-squad game than Game 21 of the regular season. With a rash of injuries almost unprecedented this early in the season, the team’s depth is facing its biggest test.

Brett Gardner and Luke Voit are the only survivors from the Opening Day lineup, with James Paxton on the mound to try to scrape the Yankees back over .500.

The lineup — really, this is it:

1. DJ Lemahieu, 2B

2. Luke Voit, DH

3. Brett Gardner, CF

4. Clint Frazier, RF

5. Mike Tauchman, LF

6. Gio Urshela, 3B

7. Mike Ford, 1B

8. Austin Romine, C

9. Tyler Wade, SS

Without Aaron Judge, who left Saturday’s game with an oblique injury, it’s particularly grim. Gone are Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez, Miguel Andujar, Didi Gregorius, Greg Bird, Troy Tulowitzki, Aaron Hicks and Jacoby Ellsbury. For pitchers, still recovering are Luis Severino and Dellin Betances.

The Triple-A Yankees are wearing pinstripes.
