Man claims he woke up with knife sticking out of his leg: cops

A homeless man sleeping on the bench of a Manhattan subway station woke up Monday morning to find he had been stabbed in the leg, police said.

The 22-year-old man was sleeping on a bench of the F-line mid-mezzanine level of the Broadway-Lafayette train station along with two women, ages 22 and 26, when he woke up around 6 a.m. with pain and a cut to the back of his right thigh, police said.

Despite initially believing that the man woke up with a knife sticking out of his upper right thigh, cops said no weapon was recovered at the scene, and police are still investigating what happened.

The victim, who is not being cooperative with police, was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center in stable condition.
