Johnny Manziel is already making friends in Memphis

Johnny Manziel already has a Memphis insider to welcome him to the city’s social scene.

Days after landing with the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football league, the 26-year-old quarterback took in a Grizzlies game on Wednesday night, watching the home team defeat the Houston Rockets, 126-125, in overtime.

Following the Grizzlies’ victory, small forward and model enthusiast Chandler Parsons, who scored 11 points in the game, revealed he would be meeting with Memphis’ newest resident later that evening.

“Yeah, actually we’re about to head to dinner together,” Parsons said, according to The Athletic’s Peter Edmiston.

Manziel, whose struggles with substance abuse derailed his football career, was mysteriously banned from the CFL last month after joining the league last spring. The AAF’s San Antonio Commanders waived the quarterback’s rights, resulting in his Memphis arrival.
