Gunman blasts Bronx man in the eye through door’s peephole

A man was shot in the eye through the peephole of his Bronx apartment door early Saturday, cops said.

The 56-year-old victim heard a knock on his door around 6:30 a.m. and took a quick peek to see who was there, police said.

That’s when the unidentified gunman blasted him through the peephole, hitting his left eye, authorities said, adding that the shooter then took off.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition.

Neighbors said the victim lives on the 11th floor with an older roommate, a man. The apartment is known as a trouble spot, they claimed.

“I see a lot of traffic going in and out of there,” said a neighbor who only gave her first name, Abby. “Sometimes I hear them arguing, shouting in the hallway – 3, 4 o’clock in the morning. I don’t come out.”

Another resident said his wife heard people arguing, but no gunshots, and thought nothing of it because people are always coming in and out of the apartment.

“Sometimes they knock on my door 1, 2, 3 o’clock in the morning but I don’t answer,” he said. I stay in my bed. Sometimes they don’t know what door to knock on.”

In November, 45-year-old Bronx mom Wendy Martinez was fatally shot through her peephole in an apparent “street justice” hit tied to her gangbanger son.

Her attacker remains at large. Surveillance video showed him hiding under an umbrella to shield his identity.
