Man’s body pulled from Hudson River near Hoboken

A dead body was recovered from the Hudson River near Hoboken Terminal on Sunday, the New Jersey Transit Police said.

Police received word that a man had jumped into the river at about 12:45 p.m., NJ transit police spokesperson Lisa Torbic said.

One officer attempted to rescue the man by jumping in after him, but the victim did not survive. The body was recovered with the help of Hoboken Police and Fire departments, Torbic said.

The officer was uninjured but was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for observation. The investigation is ongoing.
