A raging man shattered the front window of a Harlem sex shop, destroying a Santa suit-clad mannequin of Barack Obama because he thought the presidential proxy was talking smack to him, workers and cops said Monday.
Rewell Altunaga was charged with criminal mischief after being seen on video picking up a cinder block from a road-work site outside the Romantic Depot on Jan. 26, hurling it through the window and then reaching into the display to drag the battered mannequin onto the sidewalk.
“We thought maybe he didn’t like the store,” said manager Corine Lew, who along with her startled co-workers ran outside when the glass shattered around 8 p.m. “We didn’t think it was about Obama.”
That changed when a co-worker ran down Altunaga as he casually strolled away along Broadway, and he immediately copped to the dummy assassination.
“Yes, I broke your window because Barack Obama was talking to me and I didn’t like what he was saying,” the vandal said, according to Lew — though Altunaga didn’t divulge what the faux Obama said to him.
Cops quickly responded and cuffed Altunaga, 41.
The attack left the Obama doppelganger — which was still done up like Santa Claus for the holiday season — armless and with a badly scuffed-up face. A Donald Trump mannequin by Obama’s side was left unscathed.
“We’re going to get a new Obama. He just looks so sad!” said Lew.
