Kevin Knox snubbed for ‘Rising Stars’ game in latest Knicks slap

This is a Knicks season in which everything that can go wrong has gone wrong.

In a surprise on Tuesday, rookie lottery pick Kevin Knox was snubbed for the Feb. 15 Rising Stars Challenge featuring the NBA’s best rookies and sophomores during All-Star Weekend.

Knox won the Eastern Conference’s Rookie of the Month in December, but that didn’t help his cause.

Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, out with an ankle injury, was part of the selection, so perhaps Knox could go as an injury replacement. Otherwise, the Knicks will have no representation in Charlotte for All-Star Weekend, befitting a 10-39 club.

The three rookies on US team are Atlanta’s Trae Young, Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr. and Sacramento’s Marvin Bagley III.

Knox, 19, is averaging 12.2 points but shooting just 37.2 percent. Knicks coach David Fizdale said Monday he’s not worried about Knox’s offense, only his defensive shortcomings.

“He can score in his sleep,’’ Fizdale said, adding he needs to become a better “team defender’’ and “rebounder.’’

Fizdale will be disappointed after telling confidants he was hoping Knox would get there, and had planned to have LeBron James counsel the rookie.

Knox had shown signs of hitting the rookie wall, shooting 24 percent in five straight games before busting out for 19 points in Charlotte on Monday. But he won’t be going back there this season.
