Murder charges expected in case of missing Staten Island dad

Charges are expected to be filed Monday in the disappearance and presumed murder of Staten Island dad Michael “Mikey” Stewart, who was last heard from in December — when he sent his mother a chilling text message, saying “Please help me.”

Sources told The Post on Sunday night that longtime person-of-interest Angelo Nesimi will be facing multiple charges — including murder, manslaughter, tampering with evidence and concealment of a human corpse — in connection to Stewart’s suspected death.

The case recently went to a grand jury and cops have at least one witness who claims to have information about the dumping of Stewart’s body, according to sources.

Investigators were able to trace it to a possible location in New Jersey — specifically, a dumpster near Rutgers. But the company who owns the dumpster told cops they ship all their garbage to a landfill in Pennsylvania, sources said.

Authorities have been searching the landfill for weeks with cadaver dogs, though they’ve yet to find Stewart’s body, the sources added.

A possible set of clothes with DNA on them was traced to a dumpster in Perth Amboy, NJ, but sources said they couldn’t be recovered either on account of the owner regularly burning all its garbage.

Investigators have been talking to multiple witnesses — including one person who possibly saw Stewart’s presumed murder go down, according to sources.

Cops ultimately believe that the 40-year-old father of two was stabbed to death by Nesimi, who was his friend, the sources said.

He was last seen in Staten Island on Dec. 20 leaving O’Neill’s Irish Pub on Forest Avenue and then entering a nearby barbershop. Nesimi was allegedly caught on surveillance footage horsing around with Stewart inside the barbershop.

A day later, Stewart sent his mother the ominous text — “Please help me, Mom” — and was never heard from again.

Nesimi was later arrested on Dec. 31 for assault and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to an attack on his girlfriend, Zammara Sanchez.

The couple have gotten grilled by police over Stewart’s disappearance — with Sanchez telling detectives that her boyfriend “killed somebody and he made me go with him to get rid of the body in New Jersey,” according to sources.

Stewart allegedly had “a relationship” with the couple, though it was not clear in what capacity.

Sources have told The Post that cops believe “it was a relationship between the three of them that ended with [Stewart] stabbed up.”

According to online court records, Nesimi will be facing charges of murder, manslaughter, possession of a weapon, concealment of a corpse, tampering with evidence, assault with a weapon and cocaine possession.

Sources told The Post that investigators have been searching a pickup truck belonging to a friend of Nesimi’s, which may have been used in the dumping of Stewart’s body.

Attempts to reach Nesimi’s lawyer, Mario Gallucci, were unsuccessful on Sunday night. He told the Staten Island Advance that the accusations against his client — and Sanchez’ alleged claims — were simply “the musings of a jilted lover.”
