Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh offers scholarship to 7th-grade QB

The high school class of 2024 is already looking at colleges.

Seventh-grade quarterback Isaiah Marshall was offered a scholarship to play at Michigan, according to a report.

Coach Jim Harbaugh made the offer on Tuesday after watching film of the 13-year-old play during a visit to Southfield High School in Michigan, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Marshall, who plays for nearby Macarthur Academy, said in a tweet that he was the youngest athlete to receive an offer to play at Michigan.

“It was definitely unexpected, especially when you’re just looking for feedback on how to get better,” Brian Marshall, Isaiah’s father, told ESPN.com. “That came out of it. Harbaugh called me, because I was on my way over there and he was there early with my brother. They called me on the phone and asked if that was OK and of course I said yes.”

If he takes the Wolverines up on the offer, Marshall would join a long line of family members who have played college sports.

Brian, a running backs coach at Southfield, was a running back at Northwestern. Aaron Marhsall, Marshall’s uncle and an offensive coordinator at Southfield, played for Jim Tressel when he coached at Youngstown State in Ohio. And Brian and Aaron’s cousin, Lawrence Marshall, played for Michigan as a defensive lineman between 2014 and 2018.

But it’s not the first time Harbaugh has given a scholarship offer to a middle schooler. Earlier this year, he gave a scholarship out to a rising eighth-grade quarterback named Dante Moore, who was also from Southfield, Mich.
