New York state agency director arrested fleeing drunken crash: cops

The head of a state program for children was arrested for allegedly driving drunk, hitting a pole and then sprinting off on foot, according to a report.

Sheila McBain, who identified herself as the director of the State Central Register of the Office of Family and Child Services, rammed into a concrete post and flipped her black 2014 Toyota Sienna near railroad tracks in Colonie, NY, on Sunday evening, police said.

The 56-year-old fled the scene and was nabbed by cops, using police dogs, about 45 minutes later, authorities said. She wasn’t injured.

Police said her blood-alcohol content was above the legal limit of 0.08 percent but below 0.18.

She was charged with a DWI, leaving the scene of property damage and operating a vehicle while texting. She’s due back in court Jan. 7, according to News10.
