Adam Gase goes straight from Dolphins’ firing to Browns’ candidate

Mere hours after being fired by the Dolphins, Adam Gase already might be a frontrunner elsewhere.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has been a longtime fan of Gase, who could be a leading candidate in Cleveland, according to NFL Network.

Gase, regarded as a quarterback guru, could be a potential fit with the Browns and Baker Mayfield, who seemed to clash with Hue Jackson. Moreover, Peyton Manning, who worked with Gase in Denver, is close with Haslam.

Though those chips are in Gase’s favor, there’s already one potential snag.

Browns receiver Jarvis Landry, who clashed with Gase in Miami, seemed to celebrate the firing on Twitter with crying emojis. If Gase were to go to Cleveland, he would be working with Landry again.

The Browns will interview interim coach Gregg Williams and offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens and have requested an interview with Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, NFL Network reported.
