Fiery crash in Tribeca kills one and obliterates vehicle

A speed demon from Maryland with his pet Rottweiler in tow sparked a six-car crash in Tribeca on Saturday morning, killing a driver whose SUV was reduced to scorched and mangled metal, police said.

Sherman Harrison, 37, was speeding in a 2012 Audi A6 north on West Street, weaving in and out of traffic, when he slammed into a 2003 Honda CRV near Laight Street at around 7:20 a.m., cops said.

The Honda caught fire and flipped. Its driver, an unidentified woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I didn’t see it, but I heard it,” said a maintenance worker who was cleaning in Hudson River Park at the time. “I turned around and saw the vehicle sliding on its side, then it burst into flames.”

A white pickup truck, driven by a 28-year-old man, a Hyundai, driven by a 68-year-old woman, and two unoccupied parked cars were also hit, according to police.

Those two drivers were taken to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital in stable condition.

Harrison allegedly took his pooch and ran from his car, but was quickly apprehended by officers.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, and has been charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident, officials said.

The dog was unharmed and taken to an Animal Care and Control Facility in Manhattan, police said.
