Tyson Fury’s camp wants Wilder, Joshua to fight each other first

Anthony Joshua could fight Deontay Wilder next, with Tyson Fury facing the winner, according to the Gypsy King’s trainer.

Ben Davison reckons Fury shouldn’t go straight into a rematch with Wilder, instead letting the American take on Joshua first.

Fury would then face the winner after proving he is ready for the challenge following his controversial draw with the Bronze Bomber.

Davison told the Boxing Voice: “Going over there [to America] again is obviously a big risk like we’ve already seen, with a big risk you need a big reward. Or do we do it over here [in the UK]. If we do it over here, it’ll have to be a stadium fight, which will probably mean it’ll be in the summer. That will probably mean Tyson needs to get out [and fight again] before then.

“Could it potentially happen? Yes. What do I personally think myself? I think that Tyson has been out of the ring for two-and-a-half years, he offered the fight to [Joshua and Wilder]. He offered the fight to Anthony Joshua when he first was coming back then he managed to get a deal done with Deontay Wilder.

“I think those two need to get it on now. It’s been three years. They’ve not managed to get a fight organized between the pair of them. I think them two need to fight, Tyson will fight the winner of that.”

The Gypsy King has bounced back from mental health problems that saw the former heavyweight champion disappear from the sport and fall into depression.

Fury was out of the ring for two-and-a-half years before making his comeback in early 2018.

After just two fights back in the ring, Fury took on Wilder for his WBC heavyweight title in LA on Dec. 1, a fight many felt was too soon for him.

But Fury proved he was ready for such a challenge, putting on the performance of his career and fighting to a split-decision draw in a fight many felt he won.
