Paramedic resigns over nude ‘blackmail’ photos of co-workers

This female first responder provided a lot more than basic life support.

The Florida paramedic stepped down from her post over nude photos of colleagues she kept as “insurance” if she ever needed to blackmail them, documents show.

Officials in Volusia County learned of the photos — which appeared to be selfies taken voluntarily — during an exit interview in September with another paramedic who said co-worker Amy Sherlock showed him the incriminating snapshots a year earlier, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

“[Paramedic Chip Maher] told us that PM Sherlock told him she had these pictures for ‘insurance’ should she ever need to ‘blackmail’ someone to get out of trouble,” an incident report cited by the newspaper read. “He advised that PM Sherlock trades nude pictures with other employees.”

Sherlock told Maher that she kept several copies of each photo, including files on her phone, computer and an external server. An investigation later found that Sherlock received the photos from people who were romantically involved with employees in the photos, according to the Sentinel.

Sherlock told county officials that she had the nude selfies “at one point” after getting them in a text message thread with other former employees, according to the report. She later deleted them and denied showing them to other paramedics.

The nine-year Volusia County paramedic resigned earlier this month after the allegations surfaced, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.

Sherlock told her supervisors during an October interview that former male EMS workers would take nude photos of female employees they slept with because they were competing against each other, according to the incident report released by Volusia County.
