Bengals will give Browns fits

Dave Tuley, senior reporter at VSiN, joins the Post’s Bettor’s Guide for the 2018 NFL season. His handicapping pieces appear in VSiN’s online magazine, Point Spread Weekly.

Bengals (+9) over BROWNS: I know the Browns continue to improve and come into this game off back-to-back wins over the Panthers and Broncos, but I can’t ignore how much this line has been inflated (the Westgate SuperBook’s advance line was Browns -7 last week). The Bengals have covered the past two weeks behind QB Jeff Driskel in a loss to the much-superior Chargers then blowing out the Raiders. I can’t help but think the Bengals want to send the Browns back to the AFC North cellar, and that might be just the motivation they need.

Bills (+13) over PATRIOTS: The Patriots are just not playing at the high level we’re accustomed to seeing. Besides, to know the Bills can compete with their rivals, we just need to look at the earlier meeting between these two teams, when the Buffalo defense really stepped up and the Patriots needed a late pick-six to cover a double-digit spread. And don’t forget that game was with Derek Anderson at QB — the Bills are far more dangerous with Josh Allen extending plays with his legs.
