There’s still a lot of money missing after armored truck crash

A handful of do-gooders have returned a fraction of the $500,000 that spilled onto a New Jersey highway when an armored truck crashed last week, according to police.

Cops in East Rutherford said five people turned in $11,090 — while another $205,375 was recovered by workers when the cash went flying along Route 3 during the morning rush on Thursday.

But $293,535 is still missing, police tweeted.

The plume of bills billowed out when a Brinks armored truck was involved in a crash around 8:30 a.m. on the westbound side of the busy highway, witnesses said at the time.

That sent greedy commuters into a frenzy, with some jumping out of their cars to make the wild cash grab, which caused “multiple” crashes, police said.

The cash was split between two bags — containing $140,000 and $370,000 — that fell out of the truck.

“We have had several individuals contact ERPD & return money in this case,” the cops tweeted. “We would like to advise people if they have any money connected to this incident to contact ERPD at 201-438-0165 to make arrangements for its return with no charges filed.”
