A pedestrian was fatally run over by an SUV in a parking lot near his home in the Bronx on Sunday night, police said.
Yaw Acheampong, 55, was hit by a 59-year-old man driving a 2007 Mercedes SUV in a lot at 950 Evergreen Ave. in Soundview around 10:30 p.m., officials said.
Acheampong was dragged a short distance before the driver stopped the vehicle, according to cops.
The driver stayed on the scene, police said.
Acheampong was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is under investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad.
