Joakim Noah is someone else’s problem now.
The former Knicks forward is headed back to the NBA after agreeing to a one-year veteran’s minimum deal with the Grizzlies, according to The Athletic. He is expect to be in Memphis on Sunday to sign the deal.
The New York Times reported a week ago that the Grizzlies were in talk with the 2014 NBA Defensive Player of the Year in hopes of making him their backup center.
The 33-year-old Noah, a two-time All-Star, was waived by the Knicks in October with two years and $37.8 million left on the contract given to him by ex-team president Phil Jackson in 2016.
Noah averaged 4.6 points and 7.9 rebounds in just 53 games over two tumultuous seasons with the Knicks filled with injuries, a failed drug test and a suspension in March of 2017.
The Knicks next play the Grizzlies on Feb. 3 at Madison Square Garden.
