Death toll rises in devastating California Camp Fire

The death toll in the devastating Northern California Camp Fire rose to 56 on Wednesday as authorities searched for more victims.

The grim update came on Wednesday evening as officials in Butte County said there were still 130 people reported missing.

More than 5,000 fire personnel were battling the blaze that was now 35 percent contained, officials said.

Nearly 9,000 homes have been destroyed in the deadliest wildfire in state history.

The town of Paradise was incinerated, displacing 52,000 people. Officials said that 1,385 people were being housed in shelters.
