‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin gives up beer — and weed isn’t helping

WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has lived up to his name, going stone cold turkey in giving up one of his favorite things — alcohol.

The WWE superstar revealed he is over two weeks sober. Speaking on The Steve Austin Show podcast, the 53-year-old said he gave up the booze for his new health regiment.

“My eating program is going fantastic. [I’m] sticking to my exact macros. [I’ve had] zero alcohol for right at 14 days now,” he said.

“Pounds are coming off. My strength is going up. Jesus Christ, I’m getting as strong as a goddamn horse over here.”

It’s a sad day for beer drinkers everywhere with the best of the best hanging up the can for now.

Austin has also started a Diamond Dallas Page’s yoga program and is already seeing benefits.

“No alcohol, and when you hit the weights on a consistent basis and eat what you’re supposed to, it is amazing the difference that you can make or I’m making,” he said.

“I’m also doing my DDP Yoga s–t. Hell, I’m going to jump up here and do the splits like a goddamn cheerleader in a minute! I’m flexible as a motherf—-r. Dallas’ program works like a b—h. I appreciate it, Dallas. I appreciate it, man. That’s a badass program. I’m sticking to it.”

It a complete swing of vices, Austin spoke about trying medical cannabis. He said after giving up the drink, he wanted to try the drug but admitted he had never enjoyed it in the past.

“The times I had tried to smoke dope way back in the day, I didn’t like it because dope just always made me feel kind of dumb and when I’d say something, I’d think, ‘does that sound stupid or not?’

“It just brought me down, so dope never was my thing,” he said. “I was an alcohol guy. I liked whiskey, tequila, vodka, beer. I could go on and on.”

As Austin and his wife traveled from California to Texas, the couple drove up to a checkpoint Austin claimed had “popped” Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg for cannabis possession.

He started to get paranoid.

“I’m thinking, ‘man, here I am, retired from the wrestling business, a global icon and a national treasure, and I’m about to get busted for f—ing one joint because I wanted to try out a goddam marijuana cigarette so I could get away from the booze,’” Austin said.

“We go through there, the dude looks at me and I look at him. We’ve been passing through there for 10, 15 years. I’ve been passing through my whole damn life and they knew who we are and we always say ‘hi’ to them. But anyway, on this occasion, since I’m carrying….”

They were waved through the checkpoint but when he smoked the joint, it didn’t live up to his hopes and he immediately asked his wife for a drink.
