Eric Schneiderman accuser feels ‘completely vindicated’ by his admission

One of former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s accusers said Thursday that she felt “completely vindicated” by his admission of misconduct — but added that “we need more than words.”

In a series of posts on Twitter, ex-girlfriend Michelle Manning Barish demanded that Schneiderman “turn over all campaign contributions – which we understand to be over $8.5 M – to groups that combat sexual violence against women and protect those who are harmed.”

Barish’s remarks came in the wake of an announcement by Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas that “legal impediments, including statutes of limitations” meant that Schneiderman wouldn’t be prosecuted for allegedly assaulting Barish and three other women.

Schneiderman, who resigned in disgrace when the New Yorker published the allegations in May, also issued a statement admitting that the decision “does not mean I have done nothing wrong” and offering an apology “for any and all pain that I have caused.”

“I feel completely vindicated by Eric Schneiderman’s admission that he engaged in the abuse to which he subjected me and the other women,” Barish tweeted.

In July, Schneiderman said his campaign — which had been raising money for a re-election bid this year — was “honoring its commitments and paying bills in accordance with applicable law and precedent.”

“Once the committee has honored all its commitments, the remaining funds will be donated to worthy and appropriate causes, consistent with the law,” he added.
