Florida will shut down Missouri and its hyped QB

Matt Youmans co-hosts “The Edge,” weekdays 3-5 p.m. on VSiN.com, fuboTV and SiriusXM 204.

FLORIDA (-6) over Missouri: Quiet the NFL hype for Missouri QB Drew Lock, who almost always looks ordinary against elite defenses. In a 15-14 loss to Kentucky last week, Lock failed to lead the Tigers to a first down in eight second-half drives. Missouri (0-4 SEC) must try to regroup against another strong defense in Gainesville. The Gators, just whipped by Georgia, are allowing 19 points per game to rank 20th in the nation in scoring defense, but this is a better bounce-back spot for the home favorite.

San Diego State (-10) over NEW MEXICO: Rocky Long rarely loses in Mountain West play, but his Aztecs blew a second-half lead at Nevada last week. The Lobos are a lost cause, dropping four of their past five and getting outscored 99-26 in their past two losses to Utah State and Fresno State. Rocky should roll with San Diego State’s running attack and better defense.

Last week: 1-1
