Beleaguered owner of deadly water park busted for drugs, buying sex

The co-owner of a Kansas water park who faces murder charges in the decapitation death of a boy killed on a 17-foot water slide has landed himself in even more hot water.

Jeff Henry, the co-owner of the Schlitterbahn water park in Kansas City, Kan., has been busted for drug possession and hiring someone for sex, the Kansas City Star reported.

Henry was charged on Oct. 23 with a felony count of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and possessing drug paraphernalia, as well as two misdemeanor counts of buying sex and illegally possessing anxiety medication Xanax, according to the news outlet.

He turned himself in to police Monday night and was released after posting $100,000 bond.

Henry’s defense attorney, Carl Cornwell, declined to comment to the Kansas City Star.

According to the news outlet, the crimes allegedly occurred on July 13 — just a day after Henry had a court hearing in relation to the death case.

Henry faces several felony charges, including second-degree murder and aggravated child endangerment, in connection with the August 2016 death of 10-year-old Caleb Thomas Schwab, the son of Kansas Rep. Scott Schwab.

Caleb was riding Schlitterbahn’s Verruckt water slide — which was billed as the world’s largest — when he was tragically killed.

Others associated with Schlitterbahn also face criminal charges in the boy’s death.

In 2017, Schlitterbahn and other companies linked to designing and building Verruckt settled with the Schwab family for a combined total of nearly $20 million, according to the Kansas City Star.

The Kansas attorney general has accused Henry of designing a risky water slide.

Henry has pleaded not guilty in the grisly death of the child.
