Woman accused of helping boyfriend dismember her pal describes horrific scene

A woman accused of dismembering her friend after her boyfriend killed her recounted the horrific incident to police, describing how the victim fought to the end.

Ciara Martinez — who is accused of helping boyfriend Daquan Wheeler hide the body after he allegedly murdered her pal Lisa Marie Velasquez — told police, “[Wheeler] hit her with a hammer on the head and she dropped,” according to new court documents released on Tuesday.

“I said, ‘Stop!’ but [Wheeler] said if [Velasquez] goes to the hospital then he’ll go to jail. Lisa was shaking her head and bleeding. I could hear everything. He was hitting her and she was fighting,” Martinez recounted to police.

Martinez said she touched her friend’s corpse “to ask for forgiveness” before the couple began the cleanup of the murder, according to the court papers.

She added that before the murder on Aug. 22, she had called Velasquez for help at her and Wheeler’s Longfellow Avenue apartment in The Bronx because the pair had been fighting.

The couple were both charged with concealment of a human corpse, tampering with physical evidence and conspiracy and pleaded not guilty in Bronx Supreme Court.
