Bears star calls out Jason Witten for mispronouncing his name

It took two weeks, but Jason Witten is already catching heat — from a former opponent.

Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan got on the “Monday Night Football” broadcaster and former Cowboys tight end for how he mispronounced his name in Chicago’s 24-10 victory over the Seahawks, in which Trevathan had a sack and forced fumble.

Trevathan has three syllables. Witten added a fourth, according to the Chicago Tribune, rendering it “Trevathian.”

“It’s year 7 fellas,” said the seventh-year pro on Twitter. “Learn how to pronounce my name correctly. Come on now. Be great at everything you do!”

Ironically, Witten spent a lot of time gushing about Trevathan, a stout NFL linebacker since 2012. It is unlikely this is connected to any trash talk during their playing days. Witten and Trevathan, then with Denver, last faced each other in 2013.
