Window washers rescued from outside top floor of UN building

Window washers became stuck on a scaffold more than 500 feet above ground — on the top floor of the UN Secretariat Building — Thursday morning, authorities said.

The two workers were stuck on the 39th floor of the building, which lies within the UN Headquarters complex at 405 E. 42nd St., an FDNY spokesperson said.

The window washers, whose ages and genders were not immediately released, were pulled to safety around 12:20 p.m. and were being evaluated for injury by the FDNY, according to a tweet posted by the department.

The Secretariat Building is 550 feet tall, according to the UN.
