Miss Universe subtly addresses Tim Tebow relationship

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is “proud” of new beau Tim Tebow.

Speaking on South Africa’s 947 Breakfast Club Wednesday, recognizing Nelson Mandela Day, 2017’s Miss Universe subtly confirmed her relationship with the Mets prospect, without dropping his name.

“There’s somebody. Anele, I’m sure you will definitely approve of him,” Nel-Peters, 23, said, via SportsGossip.com. “He’s very special and just such a big blessing in my life. He’s currently a baseball player and a former NFL player … look at all those titles I just dropped. I’m very proud.”

Tebow, 30, also told ESPN he and the South African native were an item earlier this week. Terez Owens first reported the coupling.

“She is a really special girl and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life,” Tebow said. “I am usually very private with these things but I am very thankful.”

Nel-Peters is said to have split from boyfriend Geo Botha before becoming an item with Tebow. She also spoke about their initial meeting.

“I don’t know if you know, but I have a half sister who was born with a disability and his foundation [The Tim Tebow Foundation] works very closely with children with disabilities,” she said. “They have an event each year called ‘Night to Shine’ and they host them each year in churches and in different countries and he invited me and my family. We started talking and we kinda haven’t stopped.”

Tebow’s siblings were the first to post pictures of the new couple on Instagram.
