An Allegiant flight bound for Punta Gorda, Fla., was forced to make an emergency landing in Gainesville on Thursday morning after the pilot suffered a seizure mid-flight.
Allegiant Air flight 1304 had left from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Hebron, Ky. just before 7 a.m., and but diverted and landed at the Gainesville Regional Airport at around 8:30 a.m., WCPO reported.
Photos shared by the Gainesville Fire Rescue show emergency vehicles meeting the aircraft on the tarmac. GFR responders treated the pilot on the scene before transporting him to the hospital in stable condition.
A new crew arrived to take passengers the rest of the way to Punta Gorda. The flight is expected to arrive at its original destination at 1:50 p.m., WCPO reported.
A representative for Allegiant Air was not immediately available to comment.
