NYPD traffic agents attacked in separate incidents

Two on-duty NYPD traffic agents were attacked in separate incidents on the same day in Queens, police and law enforcement sources said Thursday.

Both victims were on the job Tuesday when they were pummeled only hours apart.

A 52-year-old traffic officer had just issued a Delvin Pena’s car a ticket around 11 a.m. on 102nd Street in North Corona, when the driver lashed out — punching the agent in the face, law enforcement sources told the Post.

The 28-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged with assault, source said. The officer did not need to be taken to the hospital.

Just over a mile away, a 46-year-old traffic agent was walking along Roosevelt Avenue in Elmhurst around 3:30 p.m. when a stranger approached him from behind, police said.

The unidentified man — clad in a white Nike t-shirt and black sweatpants — grabbed him by the back of the neck and forced him to walk several feet before sweeping his legs, causing the agent to fall to the ground, cops said.

The crazed attacker then repeatedly kicked and punched the victim before fleeing.

The traffic cop suffered an injury to the back of his head, along with cuts and bruises. He was taken to Queens Hospital Center, where he was treated and released.

It wasn’t immediately clear what prompted the assault, or whether the attacker had just been given a ticket.

Police provided photos of the man involved in second attack, whom they described as being approximately 30 years old with short hair and a medium build.
