South Korean president could join Trump at N. Korea summit

South Korean President Moon Jae-in could join President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for a three-way summit in Singapore.

A government official in Seoul said Moon’s attendance at the historic summit depends on the discussions between Washington and Pyongyang, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.

“The discussions are just getting started, so we are still waiting to see how they come out, but depending on their outcome, the president could join President Trump and Chairman Kim in Singapore,” the official told Yonhap.

Trump and Kim are scheduled to hold their bilateral summit June 12.

If the three-way summit takes place, it would likely revolve around providing a security guarantee for North Korea in exchange for its denuclearization, Yonhap said.
