MTA boss will implement system similar to NYPD’s CompStat

The MTA’s proposed radical overhaul would include a dose of healthy competition among station managers — a plan that agency chairman Joe Lhota likened to the NYPD’s CompStat data system.

“It’s exactly what Bill Bratton did . . . with commanders within precincts to be able to figure out ‘what is this guy doing that you should be doing?’ and vice versa,” Lhota told The Post’s editorial board in a Wednesday sit-down.

The agency’s plan calls for the creation of “Group Station Managers” responsible for overseeing everything from cleanliness to customer service at a handful of stations in close proximity.

Created by two-time NYPD top cop Bratton in the 1990s and still in use, CompStat compares crime numbers across precincts and is credited with helping bring down the city’s crime rate.
