Gleyber Torres’ meteoric rise not affecting Mets’ young shortstop

Amed Rosario went 0-for-3 in the Mets’ 5-1 loss to the Marlins Tuesday night at Citi Field, but was solid again at shortstop and said before the game he’s keeping an eye on Yankees phenom Gleyber Torres, whom he met last year.

“I’m very impressed with [Torres],’’ Rosario said, adding Torres’ meteoric rise hasn’t had an impact on him.

“There’s no more pressure for me,’’ Rosario said. “I enjoy it. It’s just amazing that people are comparing us. I feel good as long as we’re both playing well. I’m learning from our bad moments and getting better.”

Defense is among the things Rosario is hoping to improve, and manager Mickey Callaway credited the shortstop and bench coach Gary DiSarcina with making adjustments.

“He’s making all the routine plays and making some spectacular plays,’’ Callaway said. “We saw the game-ending play [Monday] night with a plus runner. That was unbelievable. He’s right where he needs to be in his defense.”

Devin Mesoraco, who was hit in the left elbow by a Brian Anderson backswing Monday, pinch hit in the seventh and flied to right. He finished the game behind the plate.

Anthony Swarzak (oblique) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and should be “close” to a rehab assignment, according to Callaway. “He probably won’t need a ton of those before he gets in there and starts facing batters,’’ Callaway said. … Callaway said he isn’t certain how much time Kevin Plawecki will need before he’s ready to be activated once his broken left hand is healed. “We want him to feel comfortable so he can come up here and be in the spot he needs to be to have a great at-bat and catch nine innings,” Callaway said.

Callaway said he’s not feeling added pressure because of the Yankees’ recent winning ways.

“I haven’t felt any pressure,’’ Callaway said. “I can’t speak for them when we were on a hot streak and they weren’t. I try not to pay attention to what they’re doing. When we go and play them I’ll know exactly the team they are and what they can and can’t do. We really can’t control what other teams are doing.”
