Noah Syndergaard: Coach’s comments ‘a little misconstrued’

Noah Syndergaard has found difficulty meeting expectations this season, but the star Mets pitcher says he had no issue in his latest meeting with pitching coach Dave Eiland.

Eiland spoke with Syndergaard prior to the right-hander’s start Tuesday — following Eiland’s comments to The Post that the 25-year-old “is yet to do a whole lot at the major league level.”

“If he didn’t mention it, I wouldn’t have seen it,” Syndergaard said following the game. “We discussed it, and there’s really nothing to it. His words were a little misconstrued.”

Though Eiland doesn’t know where the expectations for Syndergaard came from, the Mets co-ace admits he hasn’t met them this season.

Syndergaard (3-1) earned his first win in six outings Tuesday night, but has thrown more than six innings in just one start this season.

“The expectations I put on myself I haven’t been meeting, so there’s really nothing else to it,” Syndergaard said.
