Trump could fire VA secretary next, replace him with Rick Perry

President Trump is now thinking about firing Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin — and replacing him with Energy Secretary Rick Perry, according to reports.

White House sources told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Trump had been considering the move — with the president viewing the embattled VA head as a distraction.

Shulkin has been at the center of several investigations over his jet-setting and role as secretary.

Trump is reportedly sick and tired of the negative attention and is ready to make a change.

Perry, who previously served as governor of Texas, was at the White House on Monday having lunch with the president. Sources told CNN that they were discussing the job, but no formal offer was made.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has previously said that Shulkin had done a “great job” running the VA, though it’s apparent that Trump feels differently.
